ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

The Lam Research Challenge is a nationwide advanced systems engineering competition that brings together talented engineering students who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation.


CHALLENGE STRUCTURE

ROUND 1 : reason

(1000+ teams)
An online challenge where each team collaborates to tackle subjective, inference-based questions. Participants are expected to provide detailed, well-reasoned answers that showcase their understanding and expertise in the subject matter.

ROUND 2 : Design and Build

(Top 100 teams)
Qualifying teams will design and build a contraption based on the given problem statements. Teams must document their entire journey, showcasing the design process, challenges, and solutions. The final submission should include a video of the contraption in action along with supporting documentation.

ROUND 3 : Make-a-thon

(Top 20-25 teams)
The qualifying teams will participate in a final prototype build for two days at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

The top three teams have the opportunity to win a cash prize, and a chance to interview* for an internship at Lam Research!

FIRST PLACE
₹ 5 Lakh

1ST RUNNER UP
₹ 3 Lakh

2ND RUNNER UP
₹ 1.5 Lakh

* Internship opportunities are subject to successful interviews.
All qualifying teams of Round 3 will receive a certificate of participation.


APPLICATION CRITERIA

The challenge is open exclusively to engineering students currently enrolled* in an undergraduate and (or) postgraduate program.


Eligible Streams :
 

• Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Computer Science Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Mechatronics
• Robotics
+ Other relevant engineering streams

Team Formation:

1. Each team must consist of 4 members
2. No more than one M.Tech student per team
3. No more than two students of the same engineering stream


FAQ’s

  • No, each team can consist of a maximum of 4 members. Among them, up to 1 member can be an M.Tech student, while the remaining 3 can be from different engineering disciplines.

  • Details will be sent to the registered email ID of the team representative a day before the first round (October 4th).

  • Any engineering stream is eligible, as long as you deem that the skill-set of your team matches the challenge requirements.

  • Yes, upto Rs. 4000 per team will be reimbursed upon furnishing detailed bills for the same. The amount will be reimbursed within a month after the final round (round 3) of the challenge conclusion provided the bills are submitted before Round 3 commences. For those who submit their bills post Round 3, the reimbursement will be done within 30 days of the bill submission.

  • Yes, accommodation will be provided at Bengaluru for the 2 days of the challenge.


  • Yes, travel expenses will be reimbursed, subject to a maximum limit and specific restrictions on the mode of transport. Any team that will take 2 nights or more (by road or rail) to travel to Bengaluru will be reimbursed for flight charges (economy). Teams that will take less than 2 nights of travel by road or rail will be reimbursed for their bus tickets or III AC rail tickets. The reimbursements will be done within 30 days after the final round of the challenge concludes  provided the bills are submitted before Round 3 commences. For those who submit their bills post Round 3, the reimbursement will be done within 30 days of the bill submission.
